The most awkward scene at a flatshare kitchen sink: cradling an entire electric hotpot while gingerly rinsing round the base — with this one, you don't have to.
The Royalstar split electric hotpot holds 4L, with the pot separate from its heating base: a bowl of noodles for one on an ordinary day, two or three friends round it at the weekend, and easy to share between flatmates too.
One pot boils, stews, stir-fries and does hotpot; when you're done, lift the pot off and put it straight in the sink while the base stays on the table with no fear of water — washing up goes back to being a normal-difficulty chore.
With a student's first pot, the great fear is buying something "lovely to use, dreadful to clean" — the split design deletes the most annoying step, so you naturally end up using it more often.
Quick Recipes
- Tomato beef pot: soften tomatoes in the pot and add boiling water; once it bubbles, in go beef slices, enoki mushrooms and tofu, with spring onion scattered over before serving.
- Cola chicken wings: brown the wings on both sides, pour in cola to cover, add two slices of ginger, and let the sauce reduce for ten-odd minutes.
Tastes of Home
Northeastern one-pot luandun (everything stew) and sauerkraut with pork belly; Sichuan-Chongqing mala xiangguo (spicy stir-fry pot) and shuizhu pork slices; Cantonese dabinlu and tomato oxtail broth; Jiangnan yanduxian (cured and fresh pork soup with bamboo shoots); Hunan dry-pot stir-fries; northwestern beef brisket stewed with potatoes — one pot taking it in turns, with all four seasons of home flavours on the rota.
