For an early class or a commute, prepare a hot drink at home and take it with you.
This set pairs a 1.7L electric kettle with a 480ml thermal cup. Tea and coffee are not included.
Prepare at home, carry a drink with you
1.7L electric kettle — one morning boil covers tea, formula, scalding bowls and chopsticks, instant noodles. British water is hard; the kettle is the appliance you'll switch on more than any other
480ml thermal cup — fill it on the way out and there's hot water through every lecture. Student-bottle sized, slips into the side pocket of a backpack
And not only plain hot water
Guangdong — chenpi water, chrysanthemum and goji, five-flower tea
Sichuan and Chongqing — sanhua tea, laoying tea
Ningxia · Gansu — eight-treasure gaiwan tea: red dates, goji, longan and rock sugar in one steep
Jiangnan — Longjing, osmanthus black tea
Fujian · Chaoshan — Tieguanyin, Dan Cong; nothing odd about brewing them at the office either
The Northeast · Shandong — ginger and date tea, the one that works best when a British winter gets into your hands and feet
